So I've got my bank accounts right, and I decided to look in the account that is not a bank account.

I guess the SL600 could be in my future if I emptied most of it (not going to affect me long or short term either way).

Enter negotiations!

The SL600 needs a throttle body tube and a new thermostat. Needs the coolant to be topped off and kept an eye on.

Also needs the dash lights to be fixed, the left half of the cluster is intermittent right now.

Rear view mirror mounts are borked, need to take the mirror apart to fix that.

Front headlight lenses need to be replaced.

On the flip side:

Tires are new, water pump and dry rotted hoses were done. Airbags are new, and car runs extremely well, and offroadkarter got a taste of how she pulls on the highway.

Just need to talk to collector insurance about it.

And I need to finish the Magnum. I can't have two project cars as my only cars. That's the single most important rule.

i would consider repair cost as well. Or get that warranty to cover everything. It will be worth it. And remember you can negotiate the price of the warranty.

No warranty, this isn't from a dealer, this is from my boss. I'll be working on most things myself. Repair costs are what I could call absolutely insane. It's not a car you buy to bitch about repair costs.

That said, I don't screw around in it much because I know it's ridiculously expensive, and a rare car to top it off.

No rust underneath either. Garage kept since new, not driven in rain often, but it's been out in bad storms before.

Soft top is good, just a little minor fraying on the edge, but nothing that spells a problem. I met a guy who does interiors, so I can let him take care of that for good.

I need to stop in and talk to someone about how to go about some money flipping. $2k here, the rest for the SL. Once I get an insurance company to accept it.

it's awesome your getting it. Make it happen. You can always get 3rd party warranty.

I'd rather baby it a little until I can get the insurance to cover it. A 17 year old V12 Mercedes will not be easy to get a good warranty for.

I'll take it out this weekend for a good romping, and then talk to my boss about it Monday. I need insurance for it first, I can leave it in the garage it gets kept in now for a while. I want to get the wagon out of paint first, but since the money is coming from two different places, it's not going to affect me.

I'm essentially paying for it with play money than I didn't have control over until earlier this year, and I didn't realize how much extra I gained. Since I'm completely changing my investment strategies (new financial advisor), I can more than afford the initial purchase.

I just need to make sure the "little things" don't grow into "bigger things."
